We like to make sure that any dog walked has access as wide a range of nature and as much fresh air as possible. We know that air pollution is bad for humans but it is less well known that this problem affects dogs as well. A study by Calderón-Garcidueñas L, found that exposure to air pollution negatively affected the brains of dogs in Mexico City compared to dogs from a less polluted city (https://www.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/pubmed/18550243).
The MPCA even recommends that you ‘Avoid exercising your pets in high-traffic areas. When possible, choose spaces away from roadways such as parks or residential areas.’ https://www.pca.state.mn.us/featured/does-air-pollution-affect-our-furry-friends
Jubilee Country Park is a 62 acre public park in Petts Wood in Bromley. It is a Site of Metropolitan Importance for Nature Conservation and a Local Nature Reserve. It has flowering plants such as the rare corkyfruit water dropwort and shrubs such as the midland hawthorn grow in the woodland.
Being away from a high traffic environment and supported by the wildlife of the Park means that the air quality should be a safe and natural environment for your dog. And that is good news for your dog's lungs as well as your own.
